For users exploring different long-range technologies, we also list the 4108E-S Wi-Fi HaLow module. This module uses the IEEE 802.11ah standard with MM6108 chipset and RF Front End Module (FEM) to deliver Wi-Fi-like functionality over the sub-GHz 900 MHz band, offering higher data rates than LoRa. However, this increased complexity comes at the cost of versatility and resilience. The module is locked into a single frequency band and relies on IP networking, which may not be ideal for simple, robust command-and-control links. It is an option for specific use cases like remote video streaming where bandwidth is a priority, but it lacks the frequency-hopping agility and straightforward architecture of our core offerings.

    • Single-Band Technology: Operates exclusively within the 900-930 MHz frequency range, offering no alternative bands to escape interference or jamming.

    • Wi-Fi Standard (802.11ah): Built on a complex IP-based networking standard, which can introduce higher power consumption and software overhead compared to LoRa.

    • Higher Data Rates: Suitable for applications that need to transmit larger packets of data, like low-resolution images or sensor logs.

    • Imported Components: This module is typically manufactured with components from foreign supply chains, including China, making it unsuitable for secure or defense-related applications in the United States.

    • Not LoRa Compatible: This module uses a completely different protocol and cannot communicate with LoRa or LoRaWAN devices, preventing integration into existing LPWAN networks.
